Former CIA Agent to Speak at VMI

LEXINGTON, Va. Jan. 19, 2024 — Virginia Military Institute welcomes guest speaker Marc Polymeropoulos, former CIA agent, on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7:45 p.m. in Gillis Theater in Marshall Hall. The event is free and open to the public as part of the Center for Leadership and Ethic’s Courageous Leadership speaker series.

Polymeropoulos retired from the Senior Intelligence Service ranks in 2019 after serving 26 years in the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) in the operational field and leadership assignments. He is an expert in counterterrorism, covert action, and human intelligence collection, and is one of IC's most highly decorated field officers.

According to Lt. Col. Kim Connolly, assistant director for programs and conferences at the Center for Leadership and Ethics, Polymeropoulos’ talk will appeal to anyone with an interest in the intelligence community, foreign policy, and leadership. “His story resonates with this year’s leadership theme, ‘Adapting to Complex Situations.’ He has had to lead in many volatile, complex, uncertain, and ambiguous situations,” she said.

Copies of Polymeropoulos’ book, “Clarity in Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the CIA,” will be on sale in the lobby before the event and a book signing will take place after his talk.

Audience members will have the opportunity to participate in Q&A. For more information, contact Kim Connolly at connollykv@vmi.edu.
