LEXINGTON, Va., Nov. 13, 2018—Cadets were on hand last Friday night to offer their appreciation to members of the Institute Society for their contributions to the educational, athletic, and military experience that cadets gain at VMI.

Gen. J.H. Binford Peay III ’62, superintendent, noted that private giving accounts for 24 percent of the Institute’s funding and is provided through the VMI Alumni Agencies.

“More than 725 cadets receive private support in the form of scholarships—athletic and academic,” Peay said. “Directly and indirectly, your gifts support and touch every aspect of the VMI experience.”

Cadets were on hand during the evening to thank members of the Institute Society on the occasion of the 179th anniversary of the founding of the Institute.

A number of cadets appeared in a video to describe the difference VMI has made in their lives.  See the video and read Gen. Peay’s remarks here.
