AFROTC Cadets Earn Their Wings in Parachuting Course

LEXINGTON, Va. August 21, 2024 —  Each summer, cadets are given the opportunity to attend the 12-day parachute training program conducted at USAFA, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The course is comprised of strenuous physical training, conditioning, ground school, and five freefall jumps from 4,500 feet above ground level.

This is the only certified jump program in the world where students make their first freefall jump without assistance. The AS400 cadets that completed all five jumps were awarded jump wings.

Detachment 880 AS400 cadets earned their jump wings at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) Freefall Parachuting course.
