Adams Center for Military History
The John A. Adams ’71 Center for Military History and Strategic Analysis is a specialized element of Virginia Military Institute dedicated to Cold War military history and the connections between the Cold War and contemporary national security affairs.
Its mission is to produce, preserve, and perpetuate knowledge related to Cold War military history.
Through the generous support of John A. Adams, VMI class of 1971, the Adams Center team supports innovative scholarship on Cold War topics; collects, preserves, and advertises Cold War resources; and organizes events that heighten the awareness of the enduring importance of the Cold War.
In June 2013, the Adams Center advisory board adopted a five-year strategic plan, “Strategic Vision 2012-2017,” to transform the center into a vibrant academic organization recognized for its innovative approach to Cold War military history and strategic analysis.
