VMI Promotes Civil Discourse Through Debate Program

VMI has been designated as one of only ten colleges in the nation to be named a “Community of Practice” from Braver Angels, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting civil discourse, in their College Debates and Discourse Program, through a grant from the John Templeton Foundation.

Members of the Cadet Investment Group (CIG) recently traveled to Wall Street in New York City, New York to meet with stock market analysts and traders, including VMI alumni who work in the industry.

Air Force ROTC cadets took to the air on Dec. 1, thanks to the 1st Helicopter Squadron out of Andrews Air Force Base.. The squadron provided quick incentive flights over VMI and Lexington for nearly 175 cadets.

Formed in 2014, the Building BRIDGES Club is spanning to new lengths as it further connects cadets, faculty, and staff with the local community through civic engagement. Recently, the service club has taken on additional objectives of sponsoring events and college debates.

Braver Angels Organization Returns to VMI

Braver Angels, a national organization dedicated to depolarizing American discourse, visited VMI on Feb. 28 to facilitate a college debate titled “Resolved: Women Should Be Assigned Combat Roles”.
