Brig. Gen. Robert “Bob” Moreschi, deputy superintendent for academics and dean of the faculty, has announced the promotion and granting of tenure to several faculty members.
Col. Adrian T. Bogart III ’81, recently retired from the U. S. Army Special Forces, has been appointed commandant of the Virginia Military Institute Corps of Cadets.
Just under 350 cadets received degrees in VMI’s first in-person graduation ceremony since December 2019. While graduation on the Parade Ground was common in the 19th century, it was VMI’s first outdoor graduation in many decades.
The 31st annual Environment Virginia Symposium, sponsored by VMI's Center for Leadership & Ethics, took place March 23-25 in a virtual format. The event attracted approximately 350 attendees this year from a wide variety of backgrounds - government, private industry, higher education, and nonprofit.
When looking at colleges, Cadet Jahanzib Shahbaz ’21 was drawn to the challenging atmosphere of VMI. His diligence and hard work at the Institute has led to his qualification for the NCAA Cross Country Championships meet.
Two Air Force ROTC cadets have been recognized by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). SAME, which focuses on building leaders to address national security infrastructure challenges, honored Eric Munro '21 and Leon Thomas ’22 with a Southeast Region ROTC Award.
The superintendent regrets to inform the VMI community of the death of Maj. Gen. James M. Morgan, Jr. '45, dean emeritus of the faculty. He passed away in Lexington on 2 January at the age of 97.
The VMI Center for Leadership and Ethics, host of the annual Environment Virginia Symposium, announced that Darryl Glover has been selected as the 2020 Captain Ron Erchul Environmental Leadership Award winner.
Accepting an invitation to an event fully organized by cadets on the evening of Oct. 28, Gen. J.H. Binford Peay III '62 bid farewell to the Corps of Cadets. He was presented flags signed by each class, and was asked to lead the Corps in an Old Yell for the Class of 1962.
The Environment Virginia Symposium has been recognized by the Virginia Green Travel Alliance with the Virginia Green Travel Star Award.
