Assistant Professor of Finance-Tenure Track

VMI invites applications for one full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Finance with an expected start date of August 2024. Priority will be given to candidates with an interest and experience in Corporate Finance, Investments (traditional), Portfolio Management, and/or Banking.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Corporate Finance and the various sub-domains of Finance.
  • Teaching load is 3/3 (tenure track) in traditional classrooms only.
  • Conduct research and publish in quality journals in accordance with departmental standards.
  • School/university-level service is required.
  • Other duties include advising and mentoring students, and participation in cadet development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and management skills also required.
  • Ability to collaborate with other Department of Economics and Business faculty in research and teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups/populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, opportunity and inclusion, as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.

Education Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in finance, investments, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Finance from an AACSB accredited Business School.  ABD candidates with a clear completion timeline will be considered.  

Additional Considerations:

  • Has passed (at least) level 1 of the CFA Exam.
